Tom O’Neil, MD FAAHPM I Associate Vice President, Chief Medical Officer

As Associate Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. O’Neil plays a pivotal role in the shaping and execution of planned initiatives to help manage strategic growth and address the shifting dynamics in the healthcare landscape.

Joining Arbor Hospice full-time in December 2018, Dr. O’Neil initially served as the Medical Director for Arbor Hospice and as a hospice physician for Hospice of Michigan’s Detroit/Dearborn team. In March 2023, he was named Director of Medical Affairs. In this role, he was responsible for the oversight of all physicians and nurse practitioners at the NorthStar Care Community and led the development and expansion of NorthStar Palliative Care.
Dr. O’Neil received his medical degree from Wayne State University and trained in Family Medicine at The University of Michigan. Following residency, he completed a Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the University of Michigan and remained as faculty until joining Arbor Hospice. In 2021, Dr. O’Neil earned the designation Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (FAAHPM).
