Register by June 28 for the free one-day program at YMCA Camp Ohiyesa
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (May 14, 2024) – Registration is open for Hospice of Michigan’s annual Camp Good Grief at YMCA Camp Ohiyesa, located at 7300 Hickory Ridge Road in Holly, Michigan. This free grief support program is designed for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one and is open to all children aged 8-17 who deal with grief, regardless of whether their loved one received care via Hospice of Michigan.
“At Hospice of Michigan, we’re committed to supporting children across the state by providing professional grief services and an opportunity to connect with others of the same age who are facing similar experiences,” said Jackie Morris, grief support manager for Hospice of Michigan. “Children process grief very differently from adults and Camp Good Grief is tailored to provide essential support, education and guidance to help with the emotional toll of losing a loved one.”
The program provides an experience that combines art, music and conversation with grief education and emotional support. Campers will have the opportunity to express their emotions, remember their loved ones and establish lasting friendships with peers as they explore the camp’s acres of groomed fields and natural woods.
Camp Good Grief runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 19. The camp is free of charge, provides campers with breakfast, lunch and snacks and is run by qualified grief professionals, music therapists and volunteers from Hospice of Michigan and its partner organization, Arbor Hospice.
