Not-for-profit partnering with AmVets Post 1941 for event to honor veterans in the community
BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (July 22, 2019) – Hospice of Michigan, the state’s original and largest not-for-profit hospice provider, in conjunction with AmVets Post 1941 of Big Rapids, is hosting a Veterans Appreciation Ride from noon to 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 28. Motorcyclists throughout the community are welcome to join in.
Starting at Hospice of Michigan’s office at 400 Perry Ave. in Big Rapids, an anticipated group of dozens of AmVet Riders, many who are veterans themselves, will lead a group of motorcyclists to visit veterans at four local Senior Living Partner residences. At each stop, the riders will present veterans special Hospice of Michigan veterans pins and personalized certificates recognizing their service – all as a way to say “thank you” to those heroes who have fought for our freedom.
The group of riders will take off in a rumble of thunder at noon, arriving at The Brook of Big Rapids (13897 215th Ave.) at 12:15 p.m., followed by The Metron of Big Rapids (725 Fuller Ave.) at 12:45 p.m., The Altercare of Big Rapids (805 West Ave.) at 1:15 p.m. and The Royal View of Canadian Lakes (9100 Buchanan Rd. in Mecosta) at 1:45 p.m.
The Veterans Appreciation Ride is part of Hospice of Michigan’s dedication to the national We Honor Veterans program, which recognizes organizations that demonstrate a systematic commitment to improving care for veterans. Hospice of Michigan was the first hospice provider in the state to achieve a “Level Four” status, a commitment most other hospice providers have not achieved. Hospice of Michigan has been specially trained to address the unique end-of-life care needs of our nations’ vets. 25 percent of Hospice of Michigan’s patients are veterans.
All riders are welcome to attend this special event honoring our brave men and women. A special BBQ lunch will be served at the final stop for all participating bikers.
