Nonprofit hospice organization looking for volunteers in Alpena, Alcona Counties
ALPENA, MI, Jan. 4, 2018 – Hospice of Michigan is seeking caring and compassionate volunteers interested in donating their time as patient companions in Alpena and Alcona Counties, especially in Alpena’s outlying communities (25+ miles from the city). Those who have a passion for patient companionship are encouraged to submit a volunteer application. Partners or couples are welcome to apply and serve together.
Volunteer companions help provide socialization and companionship to patients or caregivers, through activities such as playing cards, listening to music or simple conversation. Interested individuals will be invited to a training session to learn about working with patients, as well as general information about the nonprofit hospice organization, its patients and the benefits that active volunteers may experience.
