Grant to benefit hospice patients and families in Cadillac area
CADILLAC, Mich. (Dec. 18, 2023) – Hospice of Michigan recently received a $2,500 grant from the Cadillac Area Community Foundation in support of its Quality of Life Fund. The grant will help patients and their families in the Cadillac area receive essential non-medical necessities that improve everyday life. These needs may include providing patients and their families with basic assistance such as comfort items or help with paying expenses related to terminal diagnosis while receiving hospice care.
The funds can be used for the following, but are not limited to basic needs such as food and clothing, housing needs including cleaning, support with utility bills and mortgage payments, emergency transportation and materials for enhancement of both physical and emotional quality of life.
“The impact of this gift is immeasurable – many of our patients and their families are facing additional economic pressures caused by unemployment, lay-offs, and the economic downturn on top of their medical expenses. Due to these challenges, we have seen an increase in requests for basic necessities,” said Roxanne Kiesling, philanthropy manager at Hospice of Michigan. “Without the generosity of donors like the Cadillac Area Community Foundation, we would not be able to provide these services that give our patients and their families a higher quality of life.”
Hospice of Michigan’s Open Access program eases many of the burdens, both physical and emotional, confronted by patients and their families who are uninsured or underinsured. The Quality of Life Fund provides essential non-medical needs to improve everyday life for patients and their families.
